Dal Khalsa Chief Harpal Singh Cheema’s passport was seized after he landed at Delhi airport upon his return from the United Nations (UN) conference on genocide in Bangkok, according to Sikh media portals.
Sikh Siyasat News qouted Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh as saying that Harpal was withheld and his passport seized upon arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
He was allowed to leave the airport two hours later but his passport was ‘confiscated as per the directions of the Government of India’.
The human rights activist and lawyer, who was made the head of Dal Khalsa in 2016 when it merged with Akali Dal Panch Pardhani, earlier attended the two-day conference entitled ‘Role of Religious Leaders in Prevention of Genocide in South Asia’.
