The kirtan jathas prepared themselves to come on stage to showcase their talent at the annual kirtan competition in Malaysia. Some of them noticed a major difference in the quality of sound.

It was the same as in the past many years – Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh – but with a starkly higher quality of sound, as the National Kirtan Competition organised by the Perak Sikh Union (PSU) moved into its 28th year.

This year, the organiser brought in professionals to engineer the sound system. The idea was to motivate the contestants and lifting the bar to get precision sound. The facilitation was essential for accurate judging.

Singapore-based SikhSound audio engineer Davwinder Singh Sheena, better known as Veer Dindae, was the person behind the change.

He brought in the excellent sound equipment and digital management that was heard by the Ipoh sanggat and was also broadcast live through web streaming by Sikh Inside, according to a note form the organiser to Asia Samachar.

The technology will allow the participants to review their singing as well on the live webstream. A complete digital recording of the event was also managed by SikhSound, the noted added.

“I am glad that I managed to let the sangat (congregation) to appreciate good sound today. Hopefully, this is just the start to bigger things ahead,” Davwinder said in an update on his personal Facebook page. He intends to do the same at the Malacca Sikh annual gathering starting in just over two weeks.

Guru Nanak Gurmat Sangeet Jatha Setapak which won the late Wazir Singh championship trophy also consist OF the great grandchildren of the late Wazir Singh.
